Additional Policies at Crazy Moves Dance Studio
-
Crazy Moves Dance Studio offers a flexible absence policy. Absences are going to naturally happen throughout the year. We want students to make it to important events like concerts, award ceremonies, birthday dinners, and special family vacations.
We just ask that students don’t miss up to 3 classes in a row; after 3 missed classes in a row, students are eligible to be dropped from the class. Regular attendance at dance classes supports consistent pacing for all students in progressive skills learned in dance classes. Too many absences can hinder this flow.
For absences, we do not pro-rate or refund, as families are responsible for any missed classes.

When the Yale Public School District has a snow day, cold day, or an early release due to weather, Crazy Moves will be closed. To compensate for these few days, we do not charge tuition for June. Parents are guaranteed, by Crazy Moves, a minimum of 40 classes will be held throughout the school year, in our Fall Session. This count begins on Crazy Moves Dance Studio’s first week of classes, regardless if your student joins classes at a later date. 40 class guarantee does not apply to Winter Showcase Session, Spring Recital Session, Summer Camp(s), or Summer Sessions.

We want students to feel comfortable and confident within the classroom at Crazy Moves, for the safety of our students, we’ve developed the following guidelines for our dress code.
Students are welcome to wear what they feel comfortable moving in, with the following exceptions:
No denim
No flare pants.
No pants that are long enough to trip on.
No baggy clothing that prohibits the instructor from being able to determine correct form.
Hair must be up in either a ponytail, bun, braids, or pigtails. As long as it is up and out of their face, we do not mind the hairstyle.
It is our recommendation that students wear a leotard and tights to every class. This is a “special dance outfit”, which will mentally prepare them for dance class. It also provides us with the ability to assess their form and give detailed guidance.
Shoes
Tap Classes:
Students need black tap shoes that are no-tie, so these can be slip-on or Velcro. Eight and up classes have the same shoe dress code, but we recommend them getting slip-on split sole tap shoes as they become more advanced.
Ballet Classes:
For students under 8 years old, Pink, full-sole, leather ballet slippers. For students 8 and older, Pink, split-sole, leather ballet slippers.
Many ballet shoes have laces to tighten the shoe around the student's foot. Once you have this tightened around your student's foot, tie 2 simple knots to the desired tightness and cut off excess strings. Ballet shoes do not need to be tied like tennis shoes, in a bow-like form; little ones often get distracted by untying them or playing with the strings. Cutting them short will prevent this.
Lyrical/Modern Classes:
Nude half-sole shoes, otherwise known as “Turners”. As they get more advanced, this may change to barefoot or socks, at the teacher‘s discretion.
Jazz Classes:
Black leather jazz shoes
Hip-Hop/Poms:
Black sparkle, tennis shoes. These can only be bought through the studio as we purchase them through a costume company.
Pointe shoes:
Please reference point dance requirements.
